OPTIONAL TOURS ADD-ON (MIN 2 PAX)

Bajra Sandhi Monument, Denpasar, Bali

Denpasar City Tour

The main features of this tour are visits to the Bali Museum, located in the heart of Denpasar City. The collections on display in this museum provide different experiences into Balinese culture and tradition. Continue your tour with a visit to Kumbasari Market, one of the oldest and most traditional markets in Denpasar, Bali. Located near the Badung River, it is a vibrant and bustling marketplace known for its wide variety of goods, from fresh produce and spices to traditional Balinese handicrafts and souvenirs. The market is particularly famous for its extensive collection of textiles, including batik and ikat fabrics, as well as its selection of art pieces, such as wood carvings and paintings.

The last stop on the tour is Bajra Sandhi Monument, a monument to the struggle of the Balinese People to gain independence after the Dutch Colonists left Indonesia. A towering structure located in the heart of Denpasar, this monument is known by the name of Bajra Sandhi because it looks like Bajra or Genta, a bell used by all Hindu Priests in reading off Weda holy sentences (mantra) during religious ceremonies. The monument was created as a way to immortalize the soul and spirit of the Balinese people who look after, develop, and preserve Balinese culture, to be bequeathed upon future generations.

*All museums close every Monday

Notably, the dance is based only on vocals rather than instrumental accompaniment, a practice dating far back into Balinese history, prior to the use of instruments. After the performance, a short drive will bring you to Jimbaran bay to enjoy a delicious seafood dinner at a cozy seaside restaurant.
