Embark on a 13-day odyssey through the enchanting landscapes of Kenya and Tanzania, a journey that encapsulates the epitome of this captivating duo. Immerse yourself in the heat-drenched Kenyan savannah, where the star-strewn skies bear witness to an abundance of wildlife, from the majestic elephants gracefully roaming the plains to the elusive big cats stealthily stalking their prey. As the day unfolds, listen to the symphony of animal sounds echoing through the air, from the melodious chirping of birds to the distant calls of lions.

Traverse the highlands of Northern Tanzania, graced by the continent’s loftiest peak, the world’s largest intact caldera, expansive golden plains, and skies that stretch limitlessly. Engage your senses further as the fragrant scents of indigenous plants waft through the breeze, adding another layer of sensory richness to this awe-inspiring expedition.

Day 1: Nairobi

  • Land in Nairobi, where we’ll fast-track you through Jomo Kenyatta International Airport and deliver you quickly to Hemingways Hotel or similar standard property depending on the availability
  • Dinner at Hotel

Accommodation: Hemingways Hotel or similar standard property
Set between Nairobi National Park and the foot of the Ngong Hills, Hemingways Nairobi is an exclusive boutique hotel far from the bustle of central Nairobi. An all-suite property providing full butler service, gourmet restaurant, a brasserie and a bar, it is perfectly placed for trips to Nairobi National Park and the capital.

Day 2: Nairobi & Amboseli National Park

  • Breakfast and briefing at hotel
  • SkySafari private ground transfer to Nairobi – Wilson Airport for your flight to Amboseli National Park
  • Lunch at Elewana Tortilis Camp
    • Enjoy a hearty lunch in the shadow of Mount Kilimanjaro. Tortilis has been key in developing community-owned conservancies, where land outside national parks is secured for wildlife preservation. It’s beneficial for animals and local people, and for you too – encounters with big game here tend to be higher quality, more frequent, more electrifying.
  • Afternoon game drive
    • As you head out on your afternoon game drive, you’re unlikely to see anyone else, just prolific wildlife: from huge herds of habituated elephant (Tortilis’ guides know all the elephant families and their histories) to cape buffalo and hyena, giraffe and zebra, and over 600 species of birds.
  • Dinner at camp

Accommodation: Elewana Tortilis Camp
Gold Eco-rated, 100% solar powered Elewana Tortilis Camp is set away from the rest, on the pristine southwest border, with the best mountain views and full access to both Amboseli and an exclusive private conservancy, where game walks, bush breakfasts and off-road driving are allowed.

Day 3: Amboseli National Park

  • Early morning game drive
    •  It will be worth the 5am wake-up to get out for that morning game drive when the plains are a-stir, the animals most active, the big cats returning from a night on the hunt. These are also the golden hours for photographers, as dawn light rose-tints the savannah and Kilimanjaro is most likely to be free of cloud.
  • Bush breakfast
    • After a wild start, enjoy a lavish bush breakfast, served out amid the acacia trees.
  • Lunch at camp
    • There’s time to relax back at camp – with a swim, a massage, a good book in the sun – before a buffet lunch.
  • Walking safari
    • The local guides, who know almost every blade grass, will lead you on a walking safari where you will follow animal tracks and taste bush herbs.
  • Scenic Sundowners in the bush
    • This is African’s version of Happy Hour with the most spectacular of views. Nothing says safari like an ice-cool G&T, sipped as the sun disappears.
  • Private dinner at camp

Accommodation: Elewana Tortilis Camp

Day 4: Amboseli National Park & Loisaba Conservancy, Laikipia

  • Breakfast at camp
  • Morning game drive
    • Venture out in the camp’s custom-designed 4WDs for one last game drive – one last chance to see Amboseli’s big cats, big herds, big drama.
  • Departure to Amboseli airstrip for a seamless and spectacular flight to Loisaba Conservancy on the Laikipia Plateau.
    • With the second-highest density of wildlife in the country and a groundbreaking attitude to conservation, this is one of the most exciting destinations in Kenya.
  • Game drive en-route to Loisaba Tented Camp
    • The transfer from airstrip to Loisaba Tented Camp doubles as a game drive. Laikipia is one of only a few places in Africa where wildlife numbers are on the increase, and a huge array of animals – from the Big Five to endangered Grevy’s zebra – might be spotted.
  • Arrive at camp in time for drinks and dinner

Accommodation: Elewana Loisaba Tented Camp
Gold Eco-rated Loisaba Tented Camp sits perched on the edge of an escarpment, with unhindered views over rolling river valleys, rich forests and open plains to Mt Kenya. Intimate and elegant in design, the camp is also a hub for cutting-edge conservation.

Day 5: Loisaba Conservancy, Laikipia

  • Morning – choice of game drive, horse/camelback exploration or bush running/trekking
    • Choose how your day begins. Embark on another game drive for more animal spotting.
    • Or be joined by your Samburu guide for a bush walk – or run for the fitter ones.
    • Or head out on an outing on horse or camel back – an exhilarating way to get unusually close to wild animals.
  • Whatever activity you pick, follow it up with breakfast in the bush and a rejuvenating pamper in the spa.
  • Afternoon game drive
    • Loisaba is an important migration area for Laikipia’s huge elephant population, so excellent sightings are frequent; unusual species such as greater kudu and beisa oryx are found here too.
  • Dinner at camp before retiring for the night with an option of Elewana Loisaba Star Beds
    • Poised on a rocky kopje, Elewana Loisaba Star Beds – sister property to the Tented Camp – offers the chance to sleep outside in style. Roll your rustic four-poster out onto the verandah, lay back and look up at the endless, unpolluted, star-spangled African sky.

Accommodation: Elewana Loisaba Star Beds or Elewana Loisaba Tented Camp
Elewana Loisaba Star Beds adds something extra to your already exciting adventure. Sister property to Loisaba Tented Camp, Star Beds comprises just four rooms, each with a four-poster that can be wheeled out onto a panoramic veranda overlooking a rippling valley and a permanent waterhole, to allow sophisticated sleeping under the most glittering canopy of stars.

Day 6: Loisaba Conservancy, Laikipia & Masai Mara National Reserve

  • Breakfast at camp
  • Game drive en-route to Loisaba airstrip
    • Scour this astonishing wilderness one last time on your game-drive ride to Loisaba’s airstrip.
  • SkySafari flight to the world famous Masai Mara and hopping on your next game drive en-route to Sand River Masai Mara Camp
    • Your ride from the airstrip to Sand River Masai Mara Camp, a secluded spot in the southern area of reserve, is your first game drive: don’t be surprised if you meet most of the Big Five before lunch.
  • Lunch at camp followed by afternoon game drive
    • Keep your eyes peeled for lion, leopard and cheetah, hyena, giraffe and elephant, and 500-plus species of bird.
  • Sundowners in the bush following by dinner back at camp
  • Dinner at camp

Accommodation: Elewana Sand River Masai Mara
The exclusive Sand River Masai Mara Camp, hidden far away from other lodges in the Masai Mara National Reserve, is big on game, big on glamour. Exuding 1920s elegance – the classic era of African adventure – it was named one of the 50 Best Resorts in the World in the 2020 Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards. Overlooking its namesake river, the camp sits right on the annual migration route, so the drama may play out just beyond your verandah.

Day 7: Masai Mara National Reserve

  • Early breakfast at camp and a full day game drive
    • After a dawn breakfast, set off with a packed picnic hamper for a full day’s game drive, so you can delve deeper into the reserve. Nowhere in Africa is wildlife more abundant.
  • Picnic hamper lunch served in the bush
  • Dinner under the stars at camp

Accommodation: Elewana Sand River Masai Mara

Day 8: Masai Mara & Serengeti National Park

  • Breakfast at Elewana Sand River Mara before heading out for a game drive en-route Keekorok airstrip
  • Ease through customs and touch down in Tanzania’s sweeping Serengeti in time for lunch.
  • Afternoon game drive
  • Drive to the Elewana Serengeti Pioneer/Migration Camp in time for sundowners and dinner

Accommodation: Elewana Serengeti Pioneer/Migration Camp
Your accommodation in the Serengeti depends on the season. Experience either the luxurious bygone-style tents of Elewana Serengeti Pioneer Camp perched on a rocky kopje, or the sophisticated stilted tents of Elewana Serengeti Migration Camp.

Day 9: Serengeti National Park

  • Breakfast at camp
  • Game drive in Serengeti National Park
    • The Serengeti is abundant with game – from the Big Five and cheetah to huge plains herds. You might time your visit for the dramatic peak of the Great Migration, when more than a million animals cross the rivers in the Serengeti’s north. But the animals are always on the move: there is plenty to see, all over the park, year round.
  • Lunch in the bush with free and easy time before dinner under the stars

Accommodation: Elewana Serengeti Pioneer/Migration Camp

Day 10: Serengeti National Park

Day 11: Serengeti National Park & Lake Manyara (Breakfast/ Dinner)

  • Breakfast at camp before heading off on a morning guided bush walk or game drive en route to airstrip for your flight to Manyara airstrip
  • Game Drive to Lake Manyara National Park with a picnic lunch. You can opt to transfer to The Manor for lunch
    • Lake Manyara – according to Ernest Hemingway, the ‘loveliest in Africa’ – is where you might have the chance to see hippos chortling in the shallows and baboons bounding amid the giant fig trees and a flamboyance of flamingo on the lake!
  • Return to The Manor in time for sundowners
  • Check-in and settle into the rooms with an option for spa treatment
  • Dinner

Accommodation: Elewana The Manor at Ngorongoro
Quite possibly the most enviable address on the safari circuit, this handful of Cape Dutch-styled cottages sits within the lush gardens of a working coffee farm, near the edge of the Ngorongoro Crater.

Day 12: Ngorongoro Crater

  • Early breakfast at The Manor
  • Full day Ngorongoro crater tour with a picnic lunch onsite
    • Head into the ‘eighth wonder of the world’. Measuring over 20km wide and 600m deep, Ngorongoro Crater is a natural volcanic amphitheatre, a geological marvel, a festival of wildlife. Its acacia thickets, riverine forest and glittering lakes throng with around 30,000 animals: one of the highest densities of wildlife in Africa. Safaris here can be overwhelming, in the very best way.
  • Dinner at The Manor
